Organizing with CCMB is an opportunity to learn about and practice a collaborative leadership that can support our neighbors and community in deepening the meaning and practice of democracy. If you’re interested in exploring this possibility, please be in contact!
Jason Boxer and Kim Brant-Lucich helped build and grow CCMB before moving on to other projects.
Mich Levy, aka Micheline Levy, is the instigator of CCMB. Mich lived her first years in Gardena, where her family resisted blockbusting, in part, by staying. Eventually they lost the fight to racially integrate the neighborhood and in the early 1970’s, when she was six, they moved to Manhattan Beach. She attended Meadows Avenue Elementary, Begg Middle School (now Manhattan Beach Middle School), and Mira Costa. Mich is a queer woman, the grand-daughter of Jewish immigrants and first-generation Californian. She has traveled extensively and lived, studied, and worked on three continents. She has been active in movements to overcome exclusion and violence for over 30 years, and is an adult educator in our public school system. She has a self-designed bachelor’s degree in personal, social and systems change and a master’s degree in the politics of alternative development studies. Mich enjoys friends and family, going on walks with her mother, bike rides in the sun, meeting people where they’re at, and learning with others.
